A Note on Friend's Birthday

I know this girl, with whom I used to travel in our Colony RTC bus everyday to school, intermediate college and in return to home.We were in a small colony with very few houses and only one RTC bus from&to colony then,so all the faces I see everyday are familiar to me ,so as this girl's.
The other day,in my schooling, due to my choir practice or study hours in the evening(I don't remember :D),I got late and when I was crossing road to reach bus stop,my bus was already there and I couldn't catch.Feeling Hopeless, started walking slow again when I saw this bus 100-200 feet away from me,stopped and this girl from window waving hand asking me to come get into the bus.
She fought with the driver and stopped the bus :D.And here is how I introduced myself to her and realized we stay in the same colony.Started with daily formal talks to hangouts, she brings a friend of her and introduces to me.And from here our fun never stopped.
Shansrav

She always sounded kiddish, fun loving,girl-with-zero-patience,always-active.This has been our taken-granted thought on her.BUT I have seen her handling, what not, everything!!If I were you,I would give up or would burst my anger/emotions/pain in all those situations. She is still kiddish, fun loving, active and on the other side, she goes through pressures, managing responsibilities ,all alone and shows everyone how matured she is.This girl is always a wonder to me.When I expect she surely would get irritated on me for doing something out of her expectation,to my wonder she takes it so easily :D.And when I feel comfortable breaking a rule she created, here she comes with all anger grin emoticon. She is not what she portrays :).Kiddish she talks, actions are matured. She is always there for people she knew or she doesn't,if they are in need.True, she expects the same from their close one's,but never shows her disappointment if we don't raise to her expectations.Easily forgives.Such a pure hearted girl with so much of care and understanding, very matured.I am happy you are married to your love who understands you more than anyone else and gifted with an angel as token of love :) .If I have to tell about you in a single word,I would say you are MY 'DEAREST friend'.
May god bless you with all the happiness, strength,Good health,Happy Times forever with your love, your family, your friends, life. Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday Dear Sravanthi :)  .With Luv Priya & Shanti

Friends :)

Shruthi in Music

What is Shruthi in Music? Why is it important ? Answers for all your questions will be discussed here.Let's get into Shruthi notes.

We have a good understanding of what Shruthi Laya Swara is ,from earlier post of Carnatic Music Basics.
There are 7 Swaras,Sapthaswaras.

1. Sa (Shadjamam)

2. Re (Rishabamu)

3. Ga (Gandharamu)

4. Ma (Madhyamamu)

5. Pa (Panchamamu)

6. Dha  ( Daivathamu)

7. Ni ( Nishadamu).

These are the sapthaswaras. There are Dwadasa sruthulu.
  • Shadjamam (sa)
  • Shudha Rishabamu (re1)
  • Chathusruthi Rishabamu (re2)
  • Sadharana Gandharamu(ga1)
  • Antara Gandharamu (ga2)
  • Shudha Madhyamamu  (ma1)
  • Prathi Madhyamamu (ma2)
  • Panchamamu (pa )
  • Shudha daivatamu  (da1)
  • Chathusruthi daivatamu (da2)
  • Kaisiki Nishadamu (ni1)
  • Kakali Nishadamu (ni2)
Understanding these Dwadasa sruthulu is simple , theoritically :).For example sound of re2 is slightly near to sound of ga1,
Similarly da2 and na1 etc.

This is a brief introduction to ShruthiFor more information on this please refer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shruti_(music)

Carnatic Music Basics

Basics are always the same for any form of music,Below are the foundation for indian music especially carnatic and hindustani. For more understanding of Carnatic music Basics, refer,

Sruthi

Laya

Swara

  • Sruthi is the sound produced ; the base with which other notes can be sung with this sruthi as reference.
  •  Laya is the rhythm by which the sound of music is systematically uttered.
  • Swara or Swaram tells us the way of notes flow.

Now,how to start understanding this base line to know my Sruthi?
Base is 'Shadjamam'.On this base, we should be able to reach the flow of other notes. In other words,Mathematically, Consider your Shadjamam note as '0' on a scale of positive negative numbers. Count of any number is based from or to '0'.

In the same way Shadjamam acts as base sound and any notes higher or lower from,to the base sound flows.
Chosing your Sruthi is nothing but Chosing that sound on which you can comfortably reach all notes.

Everything in the universe has a source. And Music is one of many arts.We are lucky enough to be a human to be able to experience this beauty called 'art'.
There are different kinds of Music.Every form has its own precedence in beauty with other. Carnatic Music itself is taught and understood differently in different regions .
But for understanding any form of music,it is a must to know the basics. True that every guru tells you a new thing and that is because , music forms was read deeply in the ancient time by maha pandits which we are inheriting from ancestors and gurus generation after generation and enhancing depending on every one's interest and understanding of music.

Music

Where there is love, rest is all ignored. With this possibility and some positive thoughts, listening to some good music (Aagh! What is good music? they are both synonymous :) ! ).After a long time, took my music book and pen,and started noting down the 'Raga Chaya'.Google redirected to a page where its written 'Carnatic Bhajans for kids'!! In one more click, heard a soothing voice and felt 'Aahhhhh!' :) .The artists are Dhanya Subramanian, Vismaya Gopalan.
I could recollect yesteryear's when my Guru Garu,Late Sri Ramachandra Rao garu used to sing and I grasp the swaras so quickly that he always felt proud.(Now I remember,Sri ramachandra krupalu kirtana of Purandaradhas and endaro mahanubhavulu of Thyagaraja whenever I talk about Mastergaru).
He has given all his life serving Art.You are remembered always Mastergaru.May your soul rest in peace. You have made me feel the 'achievement', All My learning's from you are not just about Music and they will not go in vain.I am Me and I know the truth of what I am doing, every stage of my life. All I need are your blessings.
